There are two types of cheap vinyl fencing. The first type is based on cost. The second type of cheap vinyl fencing refers to the lack of quality, durability and appearance of the vinyl fence. While it is generally true that you get what you pay for, there are ways to get high-quality vinyl fences without paying a premium price.

In terms of price, vinyl fences cost more than traditional wood fences, and there is a good reason for that. Vinyl fences are guaranteed from 20 years up to a lifetime. Wood fences are susceptible to rot and weather damage. They also need to be refinished or repainted every two to five years. More significant wear and tear could cause the fence to fail and have to be replaced. In that light, the cost of vinyl fencing versus wood fencing can be comparatively cheap over time.

In terms of actual money, it depends on the style of the fence. You can get ranch fencing for less than $3 per foot. A privacy fence can cost considerably more, depending on the style desired. Either way, if you get the double-layered vinyl fence, even the costlier versions will be well worth the extra price.

A "cheap" vinyl fence in terms of quality is one that does not contain an outer layer with UV protection. The UV inhibitors protect the vinyl fence from sun damage, while other ingredients enable it resist water, temperature extremes, and other damage. This protecting layer also maintains the original color of the fence so that it doesn't fade. On the other hand, buying a vinyl fence that doesn't have that outer protective layer may be cheaper in price, but will shortly fade, crack, and look cheap before you know it.
